How can I view kW consumption?

To view kW consumption, you will need an Adjustable Frequency AC Drive Controller often called a Human Interface Module (HIM). HIMs insert into the front face plate of your Adjustable Frequency AC Drive. A HIM has an LCD screen and a digital keypad that will enable you to program its operation.

With the system on, you should see the LCD illuminated.

How do I change blower speed?

What is a Hardware Overload VFD Fault?

The Adjustable Frequency AC Drive is programmed to protect itself and the motor in the event there is an excessive amperage draw by the motor. This can be caused by a Motor Failure, an Impeller Crash or a Drive Failure. It can also be caused by overspeeding the blower. Overspeeding can occur when the drive is set to run above its output capability or if it is run wide open without hoses and air components attached.

If the motor and drive appear to be running, check hose connections and/or lower speed. Don’t forget to clear the fault by pressing  or cycling power, before re-starting system.

What is the proper impeller rotation direction?

The blower should be rotating counter clockwise while looking from the impeller side of the blower. Correct motor rotation will provide optimum performance. However, substantial flow and pressure will still be achieved when running backwards despite significant efficiency loss.

Backwards impeller rotation will also cause damaging vibration on high-speed motor. Backwards running of blower will invalidate warranty.

If impeller rotation is clockwise (incorrect), then change to counter clockwise (correct) by switching input power leads from the Adjustable Frequency AC Drive to the motor on terminals V1 and W1 in the motor junction box. Note: switching incoming (i.e., line) power leads to the Drive does not affect motor rotation.

What is the red light on VFD?

The red light indicates a FAULT Condition with the drive. To clear fault, press  or Cycle Power.
